I installed MS Office, Adobe Photoshop, Visual Stidio, photo utilities, CD burning software on the system. For this I only had to insert CDs into CD drive, or run the program I downloaded from manufacturer's web site. I connected external firewire hard drives, SCSI CR-recorder, display profiler, SCSI printer, photo gear, smart card reader, DSL modem, 2nd monitor to the system. I replaced video card by the another brand that supports 2 monitors. I had to manually set "SCSI device #" on SCSI devices. Otherwise, every time Windows tols me "found new hardware", and installed its driver automatically. Or sometimes it asked me "I don't know this hardware -- please insert manufacturer's CD so that I can load driver", and I did exactly that. I connected desktop system and notebook by the fireware cable. Windows detected that and automatically configred dual-node LAN, so that I can copy files from one system to another. There are gigabytes of 3rd party drivers source code in Windows, plus anybody can freely download DDK and write his/her own drivers. Thousand of peoples are working on this :-) Thanks, Eugene >WinXP is not a bad OS, but those days are gone when 'Just Works' was true only >for windows... > >Regards, >Pallav
