Yes, doubling the amount of time does make a big difference, especially for engines that are relatively slow in nps (like Zappa). It is an extra ply: the level of play should go up by 50 elo or so. 2. I think there can definitely be too much of a good thing: I wouldn't want to see a CCT every 2 months. 3. My favorite proposal is still CCT every year at 45+10 or some similar timecontrol, and CCT-Blitz 6 months opposed at 10+1 or so. anthony
