I agree that they prepare a lot. But there are hundreds of GMs in the world. Even if you spent a day studying each one, by the end of the year, you would have forgotten what you thought you had discovered a year earlier on a specific GM. Yes, they study a lot. But I think that their study is more involved with openings, variations, combinations, and endgame studies, and only occassionally with the openings of a different GM (and then only when they know they will be playing him or her). The next time I talk to a GM, I will ask. KarinsDad
