"Single Electon Transistors" are not in fact made out of a single electron. They
will likely allow significant shrinking of transistor sizes, but no-one is
suggesting that they ever will be anywhere near as small as a single electron,
or even as small as a single atom. In many respects SETs are not to distant from
existing CMOS transistors, except that they move single electrons to do the
switching, indtead of large numbers of electrons. There will still need to be
relatively large supporting structures to control the electrons movement.
