Hi Uri, you are right, of course, there is no logical need, that people who can calculate giant roots are mentally handicapped. But there is material about humans with incredible abilities in the field of calculating and numbers, who were very restricted in their general incellectual abilitiy. Really famous is the book of Oliver Sacks: (there is even an opera about it!) "The man who mistook his wife for a hat". Sacks gives a very interesting description of two twins, who excelled by memory for numbers, but were close to idiots generally. I think their ability did not include calculation of roots, but Telmo may have thought about similar cases of "idiots savants". I am no expert for things like that, just wanted to give this as a little note. regards Murano
