Subject: Israelis! Why are computer and electronic equip. so expensive?

Why are computers (and sterio equipment e.g. Sony etc.) so expensive in Israel
compared with the rest of the world, e.g. UK, US?

How much is the import tax these days? Didn't it used to be 40-50% and now went
down to 20%

But let's take e.g. note-book mobile computer prices, they seem to be far more
expensive than international prices plus merely 20%.

I mean, if ALL it takes to pay tax on these kind of products is 20%, then it
would seem to be a very great saving to bring them in either by mail order, or
by hand, wouldn't it?
