well, maybe the uci adapter was part of Fafis in the Fafis X versions -> as a
stand alone program it is clear that the adapter takes more bytes on the
harddisk then when implemented. Maybe he was not satisfied with it or it did not
work so fine, don't know.

I would not call this growing -> as I have explained, a single adapter can be
way bigger then just the engine with implemented adapter. Also size differents
can be a consequence of choosing different compiler or different compiler
settings. E.g. compare the different Crafty executeables around, they are very
different in their size.

hm, did you try whether it is possible in UCI mode ? I can also try if I get it
to work with epd2wb.

The only strange thing I see currently about Fafis is that it's .exe is
crypted/compress... I do not really understand why anyone is doing that ?!
