If a 1900/low 2000 player challenges me to a rated match, I know why I might not play him. I will lose rating points if I lose. It's embarrassing and much more painful to lose (or even draw sometimes) to a lower rated player. Wining is not as sweeet against lower rated player (unless you crush him 6 0 or something).
