well there is really nothing to discuss as far as the Elo the SSDF tested both computers are here are the results: 123 Mephisto Polgar 6502 10 MHz 1942 43 -41 283 59% 1879 142 Mephisto Polgar 6502 5 MHz 1870 16 -17 1813 40% 1938 as can be seen the Polgar 10 is 72 points higher as far as i know the only difference is the clock speed and nothing else in the program was changed so i am not sure why you think my post was misleading I'm not saying that your post was misleading. The above was arrived at by computer v computer testing. I just don't think that this would translate to 72 Elo for a human opponent. Eric Hallsworth has Polgar 10 at 2080 after 54 games v humans; ....................Polgar 5 2076 after only 17 games v humans. Also ...............MM5 at 5 Mhz 1850 after 17 games v humans; and ................Mephisto Academy (5) 2023 after 111 games v humans. On that basis Polgar 10 has not gone far from the Academy after a program upgrade and speed doubling. The improvement in Elo was a major selling point years ago. I think to just quote the new figure was at that time misleading. To give a conclusive figure on playing strength is not easy. The pleasure of playing these wooden boards is much easier to appreciate. Cheers. Ray.
