  My personal opinion is that hardware change should be possible in case of
problems in the original hardware so that we don't lose a participant, but
shouldn't be allowed otherwise, to avoid two players facing two opponents of
different strength with the same name.
  So, in the case you propose, my opinion would be no, you shouldn't do it. But
as long as there's no rule about it, I wouldn't complain, of course.
