If your just starting with opening preparation, you might want to get  roman D's
videos "rapid and complete opening for the tournament player (two volumes, 5
(white) and 6 (black)). You can input the suggested lines into bookup as you
watch the video. This will give you a nice overview of many openings.

Just a quick review of the videos.

His line against 1 e4 is an old form of the phildor and, I think, I bit too
boring. You may have to find another response to E4, or, im sure his suggestions
are quite solid.

His has targeted opening variations that are not overly hard or laden with
thoery, but the tradeoff (he acknowledges) is that they might not be the
absolutely best lines in every case.

In some of his white suggestions, i think black equalizes pretty well. But he
does give you some pretty clear middle game plans. I guess i would rather be
equal and have a plan than have a slight advantage and not know what to do.

Anyway, this might be a quick way to cover a number of nonredundant openings and
use the full power of bookup
