What you are trying to do is very hard. May I suggest a method that I use? I have a preliminary evaluation function that scores seperately the terms like center control, piece value, etc. I then enter the move into my program and let it pick its best move. Then I look at the scores from the various functions and compare them to the master's game. Evenutally, you should be able to alter your own evalues to bring them more in line with that of the masters. This is not a new trick, I am sure that many of the top programmers use it or a similiar technique to improve their own programs. Now if you could automate your program to make its own corrections, then you might have a great system. Good luck. Bill
