Deleting an entire thing is a brutal thing to do, but I think that it is probably the right thing to do sometimes. In this case everybody should get mailed. And if that means that the moderator has to sit there doing copy-paste of email addresses and writing one email addressed to everyone whose post was deleted, then that is what should get done. It's not that big a deal, the job is labor intensive enough that the few times this will need to happen shouldn't cause much increase in workload. It takes a while and is annoying to do, but it is better than the alternative, which is to have some poor guy who wrote something sensible getting all confused and perturbed. Just asking people to stop sometimes works, too. bruce
