The world's best player is a computer program that was dismantled two years ago? What line of reasoning would lead one to conclude that playing only six games and going into retirement qualifies Deep Blue as the best player in the world or even one of the best? Kasparov has been beating the world's best players for over twenty years. Write a program that can consistently beat the world's best players and you can claim to own the world's best player. Beating a world champion in a brief, non-title match suggests more that Kasparov was caught off-guard than that he was beaten by a superior opponent. In all this Kasparov bashing, one consistent idea stands out like a sore thumb: Hatred of the Good for being good.
