A valid concern for you. Steve has already stated that his verification of
identity would not go beyond him, so do not expect him to change that stance.

However, I have to tell you that I do not know who Christophe Theron is. That
name means no more to me than KarinsDad does to you. The reason I originally
went with KarinsDad is that it is my FICS handle, so people who play me there
could associate with my name here. I made the handle up due to my pride in my
daughter (a pride I enjoy sharing with others).

I have also come to realize that my name is nobody else's business, at least for
the moment. If you think that I am a reasonable person based on my posts for the
last 6 months, then you may vote for me. If not using my real name bothers you
enough, you will not vote for me. I will not give out my real name just in order
to help moderate a forum where a few of the people attack moderators when they
feel like it anyway.

However, I will tell you that I am working on two computer chess projects at the
moment. One is to compress any random legal position into 20 bytes. Although
nobody in their right mind would use such a thing, I was attempting to do this
just because nobody else has (like Mount Everest, because it is there). If I am
successful, I will probably send a copy of it to ICCA and post a copy in the
articles section here on CCC. If this happens, I will use my real name, hence,
people will find out who I am.

I am also writing a chess program with a friend at the moment. If we can get it
to work at some reasonable level, we will have it compete on ICC. If this
happens, I will let people know who I am as well.

So, I am not really paranoid about people finding out who I am. Several people
here know who I am. The point is that I do not feel that it is necessary for
people to know my real identity in order to make a rational decision on voting
for me. If they decide they need to know, then their rational decision is that I
should not be voted in. If they decide they do not need to know, then their
rational decision will be based on what they know of me.

Quite frankly, out of all of the people here, I only knew one person (i.e.
someone I have had a conversation with in the past) before joining this forum.
This person is not a friend, just an acquaintance. The rest of the people on the
forum are complete strangers to me, just like I am to you.

KarinsDad :)
