There is something wrong with it.  Those that gather here are presumably
interested in discussion of computer chess.  If any sort of non-topical banter
goes on, it can become a burden to find what you are interested in.  Consider
groups like news:comp.lang.c++ where it is practically impossible to find useful
information because almost anything is tolerated and news:comp.lang.c (on the
other hand) where off-topic stuff gets redirected.  There are other forums for
talking about jazz [for instance].

Now, if someone makes a remark about jazz in a post that has something to do
with computer chess, but if the thread title is about Sade's new release or "Is
anyone better than Grover Washington Junior on the Sax?" then I don't think it
belongs here -- no matter how interesting.
