Around 1992 this trend changed. For us it changed due to a strange shift in ICCA policy. At the organizaational meeting of the ICCA in 1977 we _all_ voted to alternate WCCC events between Europe and North America. And this was done for a while... 1974 = Europe, 1977 = NA, 1980 = Europe, 1983 = NA, 1986 = Europe, 1989 = NA, 1992 = Europe, 1995 = Europe, 1999 = Europe. Three Europes in a row made it too expensive (IMHO). And the "big iron" faded significantly. Maybe not a bad thing, but it actually happened...
