Although I used to think that was >the point (not the main point, of course) of this place. We haven't had a grad school type atmosphere here ever, I think There are some people who want to write posts about why some program crashes or stuff like that. This bugged me, and I complained here. I got several responses from people who like that kind of stuff, including Steve, whose phone bill is reduced because he gets fewer telephone support calls. I don't find end-user tournaments to be very interesting, but some people seem to find them very interesting, and post questions and ask for games, etc. I probably like the same sorts of stuff that you like, what I want to read about is algorithms for computer chess, but I expect a lot of people who regularly read this group barf at that kind of thing. This group is a lot of different things to a lot of people who aren't either of us. Regarding this particular poster, she seems to want to do a home tournament and report results. This has been done here a lot with no complaints. Exclamation points in large quantity are evil, but people hopefully learn that over time, and the quantity wasn't that large in this case anyway. bruce
