I think the main effect in Taiwan was to Micron who produce less than 10% of the
world supply of Ram. There is a glut of Ram in the marketplace with 3rd world
countries still using Non-parity and parity and SD being the main ram used
elsewhere. Supply and demand naturally cause prices to change but I don't
believe the supply will be affected by any significant amount. I would bet
anything that Ram prices will remain stable or drop over the coming months.

The gulf war did not cause oil to increase significantly even without the supply
of Kuwaits oil.

Though I do think anytime is a good time to upgrade, K62 and PII chips now are
so cheap that you can take a P200 to a K62 450 for about $250, with a new M/B
and CPU being the only requirement.

Thanks.
