Thanks for posting the program output Mark. Here is my take on it:

Tactical:

Hiarcs - rejects Nxf5 at depth 6. This fits in with my impression of Hiarcs: a
slower (in NPS) program that has some clever selective stuff to see tactics at
earlier plies than the classic fast searching programs.

Fritz - classic fast searching type program. Needs 8ply to reject Nxf5.

Junior - Never likes Nxf5, very impressive! I don't know how they do that :-)
I think I heard that the Junior search is a bit different (no q-srch), this
would certainly support that.

Crafty - classic fast searcher, like Fritz. Needs 8ply to reject Nxf5.

Positional:
(based on looking at PVs)

Hiarcs - seems to have the right ideas of advancing on queenside, although was
showing a tendency to want to play Rad1 which doesn't fit with a queen side
attack. f4 doesn't appear in any PV, I guess it has a big penalty for holes in
the pawn structure.

Fritz - the PVs usually lead to open positions, so I guess it wants to open the
position up which I think is completely the wrong idea.

Junior - has the right idea of advancing on queenside, PVs look very
interesting. The only program to show f4 in any PV. One embarassing PV has
knight trapped on a7 :-)

Crafty - has the right idea of advancing on queenside, reluctant to play f4.

So all programs think white is worse (I'm still not convinced), with two
programs liking a4 and two liking Rfd1. I'd prefer a4 out of the two.
I think Junior shows the best understanding, and Fritz the worst, with Hiarcs
and Crafty about even.
