the main problem i see is:
each year before christmas, in the main season (this is in the moment!!)
they are not capable of testing the new programs fast enough on similar
machines.

in a few days rebel-century. fritz6. shredder4. tiger xy.
and they will have problems to test all programs on fast machines.
so SOME programs get tested and lead the list before christmas.
and others, maybe stronger programs, get tested on
p90, 200MMX or whatever.
after christmas, maybe march, when nobody is interested anymore,
they find out that program XYZ is the best on 450.
but this doesn't interest any customer, because christmas is over.

decisions like "tiger is weak" are very strange decisions.
I mean: WHO decides this??
Using WHICH algorithm to decide ?
throwing bones in the air watching how they fall into the dust ?
asking some gods in a dark wood by full moon ?

Whatever it was telling them tiger is only p90 important,
they missed the point.
they missed the point.
they missed the point.

they can only backtrace. and they time for finding out the evaluation
of this "move" needs half a year.
their backtracking algorithm needs 200 games on fast hardware.
this takes time.
if they would be able to forward prune accurate enough to stand the fight,
they would not decide (forward pruning) tiger needs a p90.
they would give it a 450 mhz machine and set it up against
hiarcs and nimzo.
I would have done so first.

maybe it is often too cold in sweden and their noses are frozen.
and sometimes you need a nose to make the right decisions.
whatever.

despite this the idea and the guys seem to be ok.
