I took a look at the ratings of some of the old masters in Arpad Elo’s book and was surprised to see how many well known players were rated 2450 or less. Here are a few: Henry Bird 2440 Oscar Chajes 2440 Ernst Falkbeer 2410 Max Lange 2440 Today’s programs are in some pretty good company. Next time you play the Max Lange attack against Fritz, remember it plays it as well as Max himself! Len
