Go up one level in this thread

I like the question :-) while I'm attempting to use my own thinking in playing
chess as a ground for a program.

So far, I see different patterns on different levels interacting! Say, for
example, you have an exchange. A search could evaluate it by looking through all
moves to a certain depth. A pattern could evaluate it by processing the pattern
involved!

If a program uses concepts like "indirect attack/defense", "binding",
"open/halfopen lines" etc. It would move in the direction of More Humanlike!

And also if it could answer the question "Why did you do this move?" - in terms
you easily understood with your own concepts!

I have some patterns tested on paper which feels like my thinking. And they are
definitely programmable! They are on the way into my program, which is in the
Initialisation phase...

Bert.
