I guess it all boils down to whether or not IBM could create a DB in several years without Hsu. You think they couldn't. Maybe you are right, and maybe I am underestimating the difficulty involved in such a project. I can't accept that a company with the resources of IBM would have to rely on a single person because no one else (or no other group of people) on the planet is capable of doing it within a reasonable amount of time.
