The following position is from todays game at the Corus tournament between Leko
and Short. After 41.Qe8+ Fritz 6, Junior 6, Rebel 10, Chessmaster 7000 all would
play 41...Kh7 after 10 minutes think time which loses to 42.Qe4+ and whites
q-side pawns will queen. Only Hiarcs 7.32 saw that Kh7 loses and it saw it
rather quickly. After about 1 minute it saw Kh7 loses and after about 7 minutes
it played Shorts Kh6.
Even though this is just one position I think it is an important one as it is a
type that can frequently come up. The programs need to see the danger of outside
pawn majorities even though it is outside of their 'horizon'
The above info is based on my PII 450 and 32 meg Hashtables.
I am curious if Tiger or Nimzo would play correctly in above position.
