I think my post was misunderstood a bit (my fault, I'm sure). It was intended as a general remark about persons announcing departure over the years. I just think that (in general) it's not a good idea to exit in protest. Either exit, or protest. But not both. Exiting because you don't like it here is fine. Protesting a condition you think unfair is fine. I think the combination is not a good mix. If you want to try to fix something, running away is not how to solve it. If you don't care if it gets fixed or not, then don't bark about it. IMO-YMMV.
