I'll do that, thanks. I realised after sending the previous post that Deep
Junior won 2-0. So it's two games, but it still doesn't prove anything.

I personally don't really care whether computers can nowadays be labelled
"stronger" than GMs or not. They seem to be so at faster time controls, by what
many people are saying, but not quite there at 40/120. But the question
detracts from what is interesting about computer Chess (at least to me), which
is finding ways to make computers play better.

There'll come a day, pretty soon, when computers will finally dominate over
humans at all time controls, but I think they'll do so just by exploiting human
tactical failings, i.e., they will still possess far less understanding than
humans, but will jump on any small slip they commit. Maybe this is why some
strong players say that computers are "effectively 2400 strength", as someone
said on CCC not long ago. They player stronger than that, but their
understanding is equivalent to a 2400 player. So even when this day comes there
will be a range of challenges to be overcome.

Cheers,

Mike.
