Here is what GM Spraggett came up with in a 1993 article. His find was that
after 6 decades, analysts of this position, including Alekhine and Reti,
must have missed the move 10. f4 (see below).

1... Re3 2. Bf3 Bxf3 3. exf3 cxb5 4. Nxb5 Qa5 5. Rxd5 Re1+ 6. Rxe1 Qxe1+
7. Kg2 Ra1 {In his notes Alekhine made the claim here that white "will lose
immediately" if following this line. Spraggett showed otherwise} 8. Rd8+ Kh7 9.
Qh4+ Kg6 10. f4 Qf1+ 11. Kf3 Qxb5 12. Qg5+ Kh7
13. Qf5+ g6 14. Qxf6

Spraggett's recommendation for Black was 7 ... Nxd5 8. Qxd5 Ra1 = and that
overall 1. ... Re3 was a good move in a difficult position. I guess it proved
too difficult for Reti to find the best defense.

Probably computers will spot the flaw in 7. ... Ra1 rather quickly.
