we start off with a controversy. :) On my P6/200, Rebel is at least
10% faster than Crafty. (this is rebel 8 of course). I'm not quite
sure
how to call that "slow"... :)

maybe because it doesn't use null-move can qualify it, I don't know.
But
it is nowhere near the speed of hiarcs, mchess, or your program.

>Time control: 60/120 ?

good question. ICC only supports sudden death or increment games.
Maybe
60 60 might be a good start? 60 minutes + 60 seconds per move added?
Is
that close enough to 60/120??

It was suggested for "our" side that we try Crafty, Ferret and Dark
Thought.
I'll ask Bruce if he's interested. He also has an "automatic" version
of
Shredder although I don't know where Shredder would fit in our speed
categories... Ernst: do you have a P6/200 and are willing to try or
would
you rather skip since you have really tailored yourself to the alpha??

The last member of the 4 fast guys could be Fritz if we can get an
operator
to volunteer. If Ernst doesn't want to try this (wrong architecture)
then
I'm considering who to ask next... Suggestions??

let's finalize teams, and operators, then kick this off. how quickly
should
we play? one game per week? two? nightly? (or afternoonly to make it
easy
for you guys in Europe)..
