If you find a mate, return the mate score, and not beta.  This will let
you find mates in 1 at very least, which will help with Wac 141.  It's
safe to do this, typically, since mate in 1 is not refutable.

Also, as Bob reported in another post, it seems best to make this
extension "sticky", meaning record info about it in the hash element.

This helped Bob with Wac 141, and helped me with the other two I
mentioned previously.
