Lots of things can cause this (in Crafty).

1.  look at the log.nnn file to see if it reports "5 piece tablebase files
found".  If not, you have a problem with your tbpath setting.

2.  if it reports seeing them, it is using them.  The LRU caching algorithm
is very efficient.  It is possible that it can probe like crazy without doing
any disk I/O.  Again, the log.nnn file will show "probes done" and if that is
non-zero, you are doing OK.  If you see no probes done and/or no probes
successful, again you have a tbpath problem most likely.  Or a filename
problem with the TB files.
