The 7.0.0.6 upgrade worked correctly for me on my W98se/Celeron500 system. Note
that I was careful. I made sure that Fritz7 was working OK first. Also I
performed a system maintenance first, scandisk & defrag, etc. Then just before I
went for the upgrade, I closed all other software on my computer -- so there was
no possible interference from other running processes.

I decided to try to capture this upgrade before it was installed, so I could
apply it again later if necessary. I was able to do so, using a simple copy &
paste operation. The upgrade module is "GUI7.iup" which was loaded into the
Fritz7 folder. Then I was pleasantly surprised to discover that it's a two-step
process, so the upgrade isn't installed until after pressing a button to give
your OK.

I don't know what installation process it uses, such as scripting(?), nor the
system requirements. However I'll note that I recently had a hard drive crash
and had to install a new hard drive, my windows op system, and all of my
software. I didn't bother to upgrade DirectX to version 7.0 until I noticed that
the Deep Fritz GUI crashes without it. Probably the same is true of other later
Fritz GUI's such as Fritz7, but I don't know exactly which ones. Anyway, the
Fritz7 GUI might be expected to have some fairly rigorous system requirements,
so some older systems might not work(?).
