Using your factor (1.7) a dual celeron (not even a pIII) 1 Ghz would be
as efficient than a p4 2.465 Gghz according to
http://speedycpu.dyndns.org/crafty/craftybench.jpg
that was posted today.

Therefore, I think that a 2x pIII 1.0 Ghz would be better than
a p4 2.2 Gghz. If the dual is 1.2 Ghz, then the difference would
be significant.
