I want to see that I thought Larry kaufman did an excellent job in his review of Rebel 10. The type of evaluation of the program he gave is exactly the kind that I enjoy! His focus was mainly on rebel's style of play, as well as it's strength. Personally I have never really been to interested in the features of a program my main concern has always been strength, in this regard Larry kaufman was very though. Looks like he is now including Rebel10 on his list of Solid grandmaster level players! Also I liked his suggestion about playing rebel at time handicapped levels something i have yet to try. "After getting crushed a couple of times at five minute chess, I decided that if Anand can't handle it at that speed, I should accept the fact that as a mere I.M. I need a time handicap to have a chance. Fortunately Rebel does have a time handicap level selection, so I played it twice at 10-5 time odds, with one win each, a result with which I can be satisfied. This is probably the way I and other I.M.s should play today's programs for comparison purposes, since on even terms they all crush us. For those of you with ratings below the master level, I recommend playing at odds of an hour to five minutes; you'll still lose, but occasionally you might score and the games should be closer." larry kaufman Also It is rare that I hear masters discussing their personal game expierences against computers, most are too arrogant to admit how much they lose. Finally the best statement of all by Kaufman is.... "There's more, but this is getting too long. I can certainly recommend Rebel 10 to anyone who can appreciate GM level play, and I especially recommend it for analytical use".
