Go up one level in this thread

A few months back, VB.NET was my language of choice when I tried to write a
program to 'solve' the Pawn Game. In the Pawn Game, you win by either 1)
capturing all of your opponent's pawns, 2) promoting one of your own pawns or 3)
stalemating your opponent, while still having one move left for yourself. Only
pawns are on the board... no pieces and no kings.

I'm a complete newbie to programming altogether, and chose VB.NET because it was
most newbie-friendly, ie English-like. I didn't complete my Pawn Game project,
but I think I got pretty far with only simple alpha-beta. One of the reasons
that I halted work on my project was because I had written it in a procedural
style, and I wanted to convert it to an object-based program. That kinda got me
bogged down (remember I'm a newbie), so I'm taking a step back to relearn the
basics.

Anyway, I think the alpha-beta part of my program works well. If you think
it'll help with your project, I'd be happy to share the source.

In any case, good luck.
