Those who use remote connections are authors of well known programs, where everyone knows what's happening. For example, last year in Graz Diep was the only program running on remote connection. Everyone knew where the actual supercomputer was located, and Vincent could have provided proof for that. But that is not the case in an internet tournament where anyone can show up and do whetever he wants, without anyone being able to verify anything. Again, cheating in a manual event is possible, but not with the extreme ease of an online tournament. > >-S.
