Hello Kurt...

You are correct in your analysis, partially.  The one thing I am doing poorly at
the moment is that Crafty tries to avoid pawn structures that are drawish,
period, even if it has an inferior position.  I have this on my list of things
to fix.  This came from the "draw masters" on ICC, and I really tailored it
toward just going for open positions period, which is not a bad idea against
humans.  But against computers, you can't get yourself into too big a bind
trying avoid a draw, or you succeed.  You avoid the draw and lose. :)

I'm still working, and every game will be looked at carefully to see what can be
learned for next time.
