Hi Dan,

a good news for the Gandalf lovers, like me :-)

I made with Gandalf the most test suits I ever made with an engine in the time
we released Gandalf 4.32f-h with Gambit-Soft (WinBoard edition CDs). I am sure
Steen find out a lot because Steen have fantastic ideas to improved his
programs, thinking on his mails for around 2-3 years.

The second point is the book by D. Wulf.
Alone the book, long time developement, we can give a lot of money!!

If Gandalf 6 is 100 ELO stronger as Gandalf 5 is Gandalf 6 around 75 ELO
stronger as Gandalf 4 after all the test I make with the time control 40 moves
in 20 minutes for around 1 1/2 years with Gandalf 5.

But 75 ELO is a lot!

I don't know what Steen make with Gandalf 5, perhaps he try to make the program
stronger with longer time controls but Gandalf 5 loosed a lot of middelgame
attacking style. The same for the later develops versions from Gandalf 4.32g to
4.32h but the version g-h are not loosed ELO playing level with shorter time
controls.

The most attacker version of Gandalf I have is a beta version of Gandalf.
Gandalf 4.32d, this version find a lot in middelgame positions. I used this beta
version today for analyses and this version is perhaps in fast blitz games
better as the 4.32f-h and 5.x versions, but not for longer time controls.

Perhaps Steen can give the users two versions of Gandalf?

An experimental version with have the older attacker style and is strong in
blitz and the version Steen is thinking that is the strongest of all.

This would be great ... means great for myself for sure!

Best
Frank
