The translation is much better than one made automatically, however: It already was observed very early that not rarely that one is winning a game, who finally possesses the most or the stronger chess pieces. From this experience average exchange values of the individual figure types crystallized, which correspond with the average potential of their individual type and for practical reasons are measured in pawn units. It seems to be a suitable auxiliary goal to achieve a balance of material as pleasant as possible e.g. by avoiding disadvantageous exchanges. Who succeeds to achieve the so-called quality (an advantage of approx. two pawn units) exceeds the draw width and often thereby already has the later victory for sure. Should be: By looking at a given chess position, an average player knows who is winning just bu looking at the pieces on the board. The player with the most strong pieces uses to win the game, so we only need to know the exact piece value so when a piece of a lower value is exchanged by a higher value one, the player that did so has more advantage. This value corresponds with the average potential of the piece, and for practical reasons it's measured in pawn units. After a player knows those values, he can avoid to make those disadvantageous trades. If a player reaches a point in where the advantage is very high (Around two pawns), this point is beyond the Draw width, and we can say he has theorically won the game. English is not my first lenguage, but the "individual figure types crystallized" is hard to read (It shouldbe "Static Value of the Pieces" if you don't like the suggestions above). Also, I'm so dumb I can't find how to download SMIRF on the beta page you gave me... Sorry. Happy three wise men day!
