It is wrong to assume that everyone does things the same way.  My engine
generates only legal moves.  (It is not slow - it enumerates perft(7) =
3,195,901,860 in about 265 seconds on an Athlon 1900+ [12 million perft numbers
per second, or about one every 160 pseudocycles].)
