The current Moderators' tenure is up on June 30th.
The nominations for the 3 new Moderator posts shall begin now.
In order to nominate, be nominated, or vote, you must be a member
of CCC PRIOR to May, 24th 1999.
So that the process goes smoothly, we have set up the following guidelines.
1) All nominations MUST be made by private email to yourmove@icdchess.com
2) All nominations MUST come from current CCC members.
3) All nominees MUST be current CCC members.
4) All emailed nominations MUST be accompanied by a current valid email
address of the nominator.
5) That email address MUST coincide with the address that the member
has on file with the CCC.
6) If at all possible, the emailed nomination should also include the
email address of the nominee.
7) No single member may nominate more than 3 people.
8) NO nominee will be accepted if he does not have a valid email
address on file with the CCC.
Nominations shall end on Wednesday, June 2nd at 5 P.M. New York time.
As nominees are validated, we shall make their names public on the
CCC Message Board.
Nominees will be asked to accept or decline the nominations via private
email to yourmove@icdchess.com as soon as they become aware of
their nomination.
Nominees, who accept, will be asked to submit specific proof of identity
via (post) mail or fax to ICD/Your Move. Email proof will not be accepted.
This information will be kept strictly confidential.
Nominees, who accept, will be asked to submit a brief autobiography and
statement of their moderation philosophy. This autobiography/statement
must be submitted by June 7th.
A portion of the Computer Chess Resource Center will be devoted to the
list of nominees and their autobiographies thus allowing members to
research and choose for whom they will vote.
Voting for the 3 Moderators will last for 12 days and shall begin on
Friday, June 11 at 11:00 A.M. New York time and continue through
Wednesday, June 23rd at 5:00 P.M. New York time.
The ongoing tally will NOT be made public as the election is in progress.
The winning Moderators shall be announced and notified on June 24th.

P.S. On a personal note… I would like to thank Will, Harold, and Peter
for their hard work and dedication over the last 6 months just as their
predecessor moderators before them. The job of Moderator is arduous,
thankless, AND payless and calls for a substantial commitment of time
and energy and a very tough skin. I have been privy to literally
hundreds of emails from members complaining about one thing or
another to moderators, and even more emails sent among moderators
trying to do their very best to be fair. And it is very rare that
a "fair" decision is ever met with universal applause. I believe it
is an honor to be nominated for the position of CCC Moderator, but
the decision to serve should not be taken lightly.
