I have a notion for chess engine information gathering. We create a standard
API like ping. Then, we have a ping-like server that collects move information.

Whenever a compatible chess engine completes a move, it sends the root node with
the evaluation to the server. If the information is new, it adds it. If it is
superior (depth in plies) then it updates it. If it is inferior, then it
ignores it.

With a system such as this, every game played by these engines all over the
world enhances the database. You can also inquire of the database to find out
if the move has been played and what the best current computer evaluation is.
