What I said is that the AMD-K7 is a good processor, BUT THERE ARE NO 100% STABLE
MAINBOARDS AND A 100% GOOD CHIPSET to run with it.
Running common programs is not a good test to say it is stable. You have to make
it work very hard to see it crashing...
If you're interested in reading a good review, go to http://www.anandtech.com/
You'll see what I mean when I say the ASUS K7M is the only stable board for the
K7 nowadays...

I have a K6-2 300 MHz with 128 MB and a Diamond Viper V330 8 MB SGRAM. It works
perfectly, but I don't like the way AMD is trying to change things... to
upgrade, I'll have to buy a new mainboard and a new processor, and then...?
Well, maybe if I had a Slot1 mainboard I could save some money...only had to
change my processor! Just to mention what they are planning with the K6-2+, FSB
frequencies of... 97 MHz?! Where in the world you'll get a motherboard with that
frequencies???(No, you'll have to buy a NEW one, (he he he), and there goes your
money...).

Of course I know that things are not so easy like that. Intel has changed once
from sockets to Slot1, now it is changing again and no one knows what is going
to happen next year... maybe that's what the industry wants - customers have to
change their motherboards and computers very often to be updated.
That's why I like FreeBSD, it runs with my old 486! (Linux is changing too much
rapidly too), but there are few Chess programs for Unix-like systems, and no
good chess databases like ChessBase or Chess Assistant. Well, nothing is
perfect!(at least I can run Crafty/Winboard).
I think a Slot1 motherboard is the current best buy, so that's why i would buy
an Intel processor.
