hardware development will of course continue at exponential growth. That is why programmers need not concern over how to make the their program calculate faster. Rather, they should spend time to include more chess knowledge into the program, as well as into the opening book (continuously update it as more novelties are uncovered and tested). In addition, the 7 and 8 men tablebases should appear soon if only a more efficient way of compression and retrieval can be found (which of course is a matter of time). Imagine playing against a computer on your home PC, with internet connection remains intact. When down to 8 men, the program will then go to a particular internet site to consult the endgame tablebases. These tablebases need not even reside/remain on your hard disk. The future is exciting.
