the translation is correct.

if you quote only parts of the text one must get the impression, that i was
reliable for the opening. that´s the way meyer-kahlen and weiner did at the
court.

but if you are reading all the stuff, WITH the sentence at the beginning, it is
clear, that i have had NO influence!

"Ed Schroeder wanted to play all or nothing that’s why he chose the Belgrade
Gambit"

this sentence is absolutely clear. it says, that the decision was ALREADY made
by ed.

but what happened then?

ed said:"Rebel cannot again play Bc4 as tiger, that´s a bad line, let´s have a
look which other move is possible". so we found Qe2 instead of Bc4.
ed said:"oh, that´s looking good! let´s have a look what can follow."

now comes the important point:

i used the rebel-book to play forward some moves, using the black answers which
i thought most likely to be played because it´s a main line in comp-comp games.
very often i have seen this.

i have had no special shredder-book knowledge at this moment, because i never
have tested shredder with this opening. i have had not a single idea what
shredder has in his book, but due to my experience i thought that this special
line has a very good chance to occure on the board. that´s all!

and by the way: i exactly knew, that stefan ALWAYS is using a secret tournament
book, which has nothing in common with the commercial book. so using
inside-knowledge was ABSOLUTELY impossible.

but i am MORE than disappointed that stefan is saying such bad things about me.
he knows VERY well that i NEVER used inside knowledge against ANY program. last
year in paderborn HE wanted me to outbook tiger, because those days i also have
had a tiger-version which was close to the tiger-paderborn version. i refused to
do that.

this year i reported to ed, that century 3 played fantastic in my tests and he
asked me if i can give him the games (he didn´t know that i have had a shredder
beta). i said: sorry ed, but some of the games are played with the latest
shredder and tiger versions and it would be unfair if i would give you the
games. of course immediately ed was in agreement.

ed can confirm this and everyone can see that i NEVER have had only the idea to
hurt shredder with inside-knowledge. I NEVER WOULD DO THAT!

i only can say, that the behaviour of stefan meyer-kahlen to insult me of these
nasty things, is the most disappointing thing in my "computerchess-life".

everyone can see the difference in honesty between these two programmers and
these two companies:

last year i worked together with stefan and stefan became world-champion.
shredder beat rebel. did anyone heard a word of complainment from ed? no!
those days stefan said to me: "thanks marcus, i will never forget how you helped
me to reach the title. you have had a big part on the success"

no, i need no merits or something else, but everybody can see how long and in
which way the word "never" lasts, spoken by this "honest" man.

now compare to this year.
i worked together with ed. stefan and mr weiner complain about using
inside-knowledge.
and ed? ed (totally unguilty) becomes involved in a fight which isn´t his
business. he could say nothing to become not involved. but he is telling the
truth even he then has to defend himself. a behaviour that i never have seen
from mr meyer-kahlen. last year when somebody in public insulted me to be unfair
in favour of shredder, stefan NEVER helped me and said the truth, because he
could become involved and that maybe could not be good for himself.

does anybody see the difference?
does anybody see who is the honest man of these two programmers?

i for myself know VERY well.

so please do not believe ed or christophe would ever use inside-knowledge.

ed schröder is by far the MOST honest chess-programmer i have ever met.

>I sincerely believe Marcus did nothing wrong. I asked him to operate Tiger

has anyone seen such a statement from mr meyer-kahlen last year?

>
>Marcus is just like many here in CCC a passionate computer chess lover
>who loves ALL chess programs and due to circumstances got the chance
>to operate one of his favorite chess programs in a WCCCM and I did not
>put tape on his mouth to forbid him to communicate with me. 6-7 days we
>only talked about computer chess and nothing to your disadvantage has
>been said.

that´s totally true!

>Preparing the opening for each game was the job of Jeroen and me alone.

correct

>Again: nothing has been said to your disadvantage.

correct

>Whatever your wars with Marcus he did a fine and honest job in London and

>>So according to Marcus Kästner it was YOU who decided to play the Belgrade
>>Gambit, but HE told you to play this line where Shredder came out of book lost.

as anyone can see, i have not "told", i have "shown" what will occure on the
board in my opinion. quite a difference, isn´t it?
