Dear Ed

I think the main reason for the AMD advantage here was the Level *1*
cache being higher on AMD...

The *Slot 2* Pentium II processors - starting with the one to be
available next month - I belive will have the same amount of Level 1
cache as the AMD... So the 450 Slot 2 P-II may well be faster than even
the AMD pseudo-300, running Rebel, thanks to:
1. Same L1 cache
2. Much bigger L2 cache OPERATING AT FULL FREQUENCY OF CPU
3. 50% faster MHz.
4. maybe less efficiency elsewhere, but overall...

I am no Intel "fan" (not even attached to CPU!)... but Ed please make
sure you use the fastest machine. For chess and Rebel, I believe these
new generation Intel CPUs will outstrip AMD...

Anand will surely be in super-cool mode and you want to win some/lots of
those fast games!

Kind regards

fca
