Sorry to say, I have never heard that Q+N vs. Q+B should favour the Q+N in general, since the bishop might restrict the knight, and I am good at endgames. I would say that many other positional factors and weaknesses are bound to dominate that consideration. If I read that rule somewhere I must have discarded it as useless. It is clearly not in the same league as, 'Put the rook behind the passer' and other general rules.I have always relied on concrete calculations in most cases. It is generally quite easy to decide what advantages and disadvantages each side has. Synthesis, determining who is better is a much harder task though. Regards Dan Andersson
