The media used the name Deep blue for Deep blue prototype that was used.
so from the point of view of the public it happened.

I agree that Deep blue prototype is not the same Deep blue that played kasparov
but I think there should be no problem with using same name for the program
that played Wchess and the program that played Kasparov.

I think that there is nothing wrong with using the name that was used by the
media.
People can use also the name fritz for both Fritz3 on p90 and for Fritz7 on 8
processors and there is no confusion.

The name Deep blue can be used for one of the following:
1)Deep blue prototype(before the first match against kasparov)
2)Deep blue 1(the program that was used in the first match against kasparov)
3)deeper blue or Deep blue 2(the program that was used in the second match
against kasparov).

So there is no version to know. Wchess drew with

I remember that Wchess drew against Deep blue Prototype in 1995 few monthes
before the first match against kasparov that was in 1996

I do not know about the HP chip but Wchess used pentium90 when it drew Deep Blue
Prototype.
