IMO: Ten Best (I think) "Free" winboard engines.

(in no perticular order, because it is hard to say for sure or even to estimate,
who is better than whom)

Crafty
Yace
Anmon
SoS
Bringer
Comet
Phalanx
Little Goliath
Gromit
Phraon

If I had more choices, I would add, Amy, Sjeng, BeoWulf and Delfi, only because
they have some kind of uniqueness in themself

The Best beside Crafty, would "without doubt" be YACE.

I dont know if "Zarkov" as a winboard engine can be purchased.
But you can buy Gandalf, and it is also possible to use Chessmaster8000 under
winboard as a winboard engine, in a weird-complicated way.

I use it, and I like it.
Some complains with this program is that, its book building is seriously slow,
and database is very simple. I like it because I am bored of Chessbase GUI.
