Yes it probably works, but as you say, it's a workaround. It's sad, that there
are no plans for a native Linux version of Arena at the moment, but maybe in the
future.

The reason why I don't like Wine-based solutions are two-fold: (and in this
order)

(1) I don't think it helps the Linux software market in general
(2) The applications don't integrate very well
